The Net Zero Fund provides a convenient and tax-efficient way for Kiwis to donate to climate charities around the world. The fund aims to achieve maximum impact for each dollar donated, by supporting organisations with a track record of reducing or averting greenhouse gas emissions.
We support a diverse mix of global charities and grassroots organisations working hard to tackle climate change. Choose your favourite charity to support, or make a diversified donation to all of them!
The climate crisis is the biggest threat to our lives as we know it, and will disproportionately affect those who have done the least to contribute to it. The Net Zero fund allowed us to fund charities that focused on solutions that were both practical and prioritised climate justice, and we were glad to find a way that allowed us to contribute from Aotearoa.

Independent research by international think-tanks such as Founders Pledge, Giving Green, Effective Altruism NZ and Effective Environmentalism suggests that donating is one of the most effective things an individual can do to tackle climate change.
The organisations we support are achieving genuine emissions reductions by influencing energy policies, protecting rainforests, empowering women and raising awareness. Most of them operate on shoestring budgets and yet are highly effective.

The Net Zero Fund was established in August 2020 by Carbon Critical, in partnership with The Gift Trust. Our mission is to provide Kiwis with a simple and tax-efficient way to donate to high-impact climate charities and to promote philanthropy as an effective way to tackle climate change.
Carbon Critical is a non-profit New Zealand company that promotes the Net Zero Fund, communicates with donors and tracks transactions. Carbon Critical does not charge any fees for supporting the Net Zero Fund.
The Gift Trust is a New Zealand registered charity that hosts and administers the Net Zero Fund and processes payments. The Gift Trust charges some minor fees (~3.5%) to cover operational costs (see FAQ).
